The call for applications for the 19th OIDP Award is now open!

The OIDP and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) invite local and regional governments to submit their practices of participatory and deliberative democracy for the 19th edition of the OIDP Award “Best Practice in Citizen Participation”.

All practices active during 2024 are eligible to apply. As a novelty, this year we are introducing a special mention for durability and sustainability, for which practices that, although no longer active in 2024, have been in force for more than five years, maintaining their name and characteristics without significant changes, may apply.

Individuals and non-profit organizations may also submit their candidacy on a practice promoted and implemented with local and regional governments, exclusively with the authorization of the latter. More information can be found in the 2025 Terms.

How to apply?

  • To apply, governments and all interested parties must complete the Online Application Form on our website by 31 January 2025.
  • If you still need to become a member of the OIDP, you must complete the membership form by 15 January 2025.
  • We have prepared an Application Guide to help you fill out the form.

Participate! The OIDP Award is an opportunity to internationally showcase your work in protecting democracy from local communities.

For detailed requirements and to submit a proposal, please visit the OIDP Award website. If you have any questions, please contact us at oidp@uclg.org.
